MAXWELL BALDWIN

CODING,  CHARACTER & LEVEL DESIGN, AI-ANIMATOR  &  MUSIC

Hi everyone! My name is Max Baldwin, and I am a senior at the University of Miami Majoring in Business Technology and Minoring in Game Design. I grew up with a passion for video games of all kinds - Pokémon is a notable favorite - and always I took interest in combining music with the visual aspects of things. In this game, I wrote all of the music and created all of the sounds, designed enemies and stages, implemented all of my team’s artwork into the game via code, and designed all of the boss fights with Enemy AI, animation state machines, and - of course - more code. I am most proud of the soundtrack that I compiled for this game and how well the music fits the game itself, as well as how well the boss fights create an intuitive and challenging play experience. As a graduating senior I am hoping to find work in the video game industry I’m so proud of how far our team has come, and how much can be done in just a few months!

IRENE CABALLERO

CHARACTER & LEVEL DESIGN, 2D ANIMATOR, & NARRATIVE SCRIPT WRITING

Hi! 😊 My name is Irene. I am currently a junior, studying a double major in Motion Pictures and Digital and Multimedia Design in Universidad Nebrija, in Spain. For this Spring 2022, I’ve been an exchange student in University of Miami.

I’ve always been passionate about the world behind videogames, animation and cinema. When I finished high school, I decided to study and learn more about ALL of these industries and choosing where to pursue a career once I’ve decided which passion is stronger. Until then, I am doing my best to take part in creating as much projects as possible in all kinds of media.

Dark patterns has been an incredible project to work on. In this game I’ve had the opportunity to work in my most loved aspects of creating a videogame: narrative writing, character design, level design, animations and creating some of the cutscenes of the videogame

I wrote the script for the introduction, the tutorial, and the final level of the game. I also designed the level maps for those levels and the maze in roach motel. I created the characters Navy/Yvan and Popeye and animated the first and last cutscene of the game (introduction and credits), as well as Navy’s final revelation and transformation to Yvan.

I couldn’t be happier with how the game turned out. Since the very first moment, the team was showing their creativity and passion while creating this game. I am super grateful and proud for the work, talent and time everyone invested on it and I think our game is the well-deserved result for that effort.

PAULINA FIORE

CODING,  CHARACTER DESIGN & NARRATIVE SCRIPT WRITING

Howdy! I am a Junior studying at the UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI. I am majoring in Interactive Media with a focus on Game Design. Dark Souls is my favorite game and has inspired me to pursue a career in the Game industry.

For the game Dark Patterns, I coded the dialogue system, camera-mechanics in Roger's Maze, connected levels, event triggers and did maintenance on the code. Fixing bugs and errors and re-work for optimization.

I am most proud of my sign-in mini game code at Roger's motel. It was rewarding being able to learn about timing events, invoke methods and starting successful domino effects!

I wrote the narrative script for Roger's Motel and created charter designs for USERNAME, ROGER, ROGER'S MINION and CLIPPUU. Clippuu was my favorite. It was reminiscent of the 2000's emo-craze.

I am proud of our game and team. Everyone was eager to contribute and jumped right to work.
